Last of the Summer Wine – Grecian Musings

I can’t believe I only got back from Kefalonia just over a week ago… It feels like a year!

My Greek wine finds will be out in this month’s newsletter but I had to do a shout out to a few island highlights plus a couple of my longtime faves which I returned to.

South of the Island:

Hotel: @fzeen_kefalonia – Fzeen is the dream. It is like an elevated, boutique Soho house ( if that is not an oxymoron). Beautifully designed and laid out overlooking its own private beach, it has incredible work out facilities and daily classes, the best breakfast I have ever been offered at a hotel, superb service and I have never felt so relaxed and indulged.

Beach: Fzeen is situated in Lourdas beach which is the perfect place if you just need to flop and enjoy the local surroundings. This pristine beach is fantastic and LONG with plenty of great beach bar options and you can just wander from local taverna to sunset cocktail lounge with ease.

Restaurant: We adored all the local tavernas but our fave dinner was at @lorrainesrestaurantlourdas restaurant. Run by Lorraine since 1999, the bread is baked fresh every day, vegetables and fruit picked from their local garden and they even make their own feta cheese and olive oil. Panoramic sea side views are a bonus!

Up North – near Fiskardo

Hotel: @emelisseresort – fantastic  hillside nature resort near lots of local beaches and it also offers a shuttle to Fiskardo daily. Loved the infinity pool with sea views, welcoming staff and it has a great set up for families.

Beach restaurant: It’s still my fave beach restaurant! @alati_seafood_more offers delicious seafood, an extensive Greek wine list, amazing cocktails whilst overlooking the prettiest cove.

Beach: Kimilia Beach – After a 20 minute walk through woodland wonderland you are further rewarded with a gorgeous and super quiet beach with crystal clear waters. The journey is just as beautiful as the destination.

Couldn’t recommend this gorgeous and friendly island more!
