The Wine Culture Experience of the Month

Wine Tasting with English Winery Black Chalk at The Other Art FairWhen someone asks what I do, I find it very hard to offer a short answer. But how Iidentify myself in the wine world is as a Wine Culturalist.Someone who spreads the joy of wine through diverse conversations, various mediums and all aspects of culture.

Therefore, attending the Other Art Fair this weekend made my heart burst and mysensorial faculties sing! It takes place every October for 4 days in the iconic TrumanBrewery. With over 175 independent artists, immersive installations, workshops, DJ’s, this is an incredible way to view a range of original and affordable artwork plus meet likeminded people.

At the heart of the exhibition, Hampshire based winery Black Chalk host their ownexperiential activation where wine tastings and art workshops run throughout the four days.I have been a fan of Black Chalk for a while. I adore their use of long lees aging and a bit of oak to create subtle richness in their Sparkling and their still Rosé “Dancer in Pink” is pure red berry fruit with a delectable creamy texture. However, what I admire just as much, is their appreciation of wine as a craft and their love of innovation and artistry.

As well as being the official wine partner of the Other Art Fair since 2024, they also have an Artist in Residence Scheme at the winery and host all kinds of supper clubs and crafting workshops. Sitting at their circular bar surround by art and next to people of all ages; some withfriends, some on their own, this epitomized how wine is relevant. It is meant to beinclusive, fun, multi sensorial and ultimately a fantastic connector.I left the exhibition having discovered new artists, Black Chalk’s latest Chardonnayrelease and having met lovely new people.
