Very rare 2015 Champagne Salon Tasting

What makes a memorable wine tasting?
Well definitely being able to taste the v rare 2015 Champagne Salon before their launch in Autumn was an extraordinary occasion.
Details can be released in September but wine geeks will appreciate that each vintage is 100% Chardonnay, small production, cellared for at least a decade and is only produced in exceptional years.
Therefore, although the first vintage of Champagne Salon was in 1905, this is only the 45th vintage to be available to the public!
However, this tasting was special for a myriad of other reasons.
1. It was the opportunity to taste @champagnedelamotte – the sister house of Champagne Salon. These wines are the “children” of Salon – sharing in the focus on aromatics, purity and richness. At a much more accessible price point!
Highlights:
Amazing Value: Champagne Delamotte Brut NV – £44.00 online
Refreshing yet full of intense, rounded fruit. A true crowd pleaser.
Discerning Hedonism: Champagne Delamotte Blanc de Blancs 2018 £74.00 online
Super elegant – combining zesty acidity, golden fruit, honeysuckle nuances with satisfying nutty undertones. Everyone fell in love with it!
2. The venue – The Old Sessions House in Clerkenwell is stunning – check out my vid. I would love to throw a party in this elegant and beautifully lit space.
3. The people! I loved how there were only 5 wines to taste. I could take my time tasting and have proper chats with Cristian Rimoldi, the export director, who is just as charming as he is knowledgeable.
It also meant that I had time to chat to wine friends who I don’t often get to see. I argued that this would allow the bubbles to dissipate in my glass so I could appreciate the wine more – but the conversations and hugs shared were just as enlivening as the wine.
Although the last pic of @henrygjeffreys and I, does make it look like we were there for 10 hours!
Thank you so much @champagnedelamotte and @corneyandbarrow for a wonderful afternoon that enhanced all the senses.
